Lake Street Dwelling is a proposed mixed-income community to be built in three phases near the popular Lyndale Avenue and Lake Street intersection in Minneapolis. In a neighborhood where abundant, quality housing is often only available through luxury properties, Lake Street Dwelling will provide greater affordable housing choices to working residents. Phase 1, currently under construction, includes 111 units of affordable housing with nine units reserved for homeless veterans.
Through a unique partnership with Hennepin County and the nearby Ballentine VFW Post 246, Lake Street Dwelling will offer community-based programming and support for veterans. Phase 2 is an identical 111-unit building across Harriet Avenue from the first phase. It will also include nine units for homeless veterans. Adjacent to the second building is Phase 3, an entry level market-rate property with 92 units. Each building will offer studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units at a variety of different price points.
Located close to the Midtown Greenway in a transit-rich area, Lake Street Dwelling will feature various amenities, including a fitness facility, a business center, community rooms, outdoor decks, a green roof, solar panels and a bike room with a repair station. The development is also within a half-mile of the new bus rapid transit (BRT) station at Lake Street and I-35W, and is served by several high-frequency bus routes.
The campus will replace a surface parking lot and automotive uses into transit-oriented housing.
